Overnight Camping Getaways From Mleiha Archaeological Centre

Things to do in Fujairah

With the weather turning pleasant at this time of the year, the Mleiha Archaeological Centre offers a Camping Experience package that includes an overnight stay at a desert campsite.

The package begins with a visit to the Mleiha Archaeological Museum where visitors can marvel over spectacular finds of spectacular ancient relics dating as early back as the Stone Ages followed by moving to the campsite for a barbecue dinner which includes soft drinks and dessert. Visitors then can explore the astronomical wonders through stargazing experience guided by experts. Campsite stories can be shared at the camp bonfire before retiring to customized tents for a night’s sleep under the stars.

An early morning drive to catch the glorious sunrise in the desert will be followed by a trekking experience on the sands where guests will learn more about the natural history, archaeology and geology of the place. The event will culminate with breakfast at the camp.

Part of the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project established by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), the overnight camping experience project has been designed and implemented by a team of experts with safety as the focal point.

Apart from this, the centre also offers Adventure Trek packages that cater to wildlife enthusiasts. Whether it be fauna and flora workshops or early morning or late afternoon nature hikes, there is a lot to see and learn with an expert from their education team teaching visitors about this stunning piece of UAE’s desert landscape, apart from visits to natural formations nearby such as Fossil Rock, Valley of the Caves, and Camel Rock.

Adrenaline junkies can choose from several sports packages, including dune bashing, biking and ArchaeoMog tours, all specially designed keeping in mind the eco-sensitive nature of the region.

All the guides are either palaeontologists, archaeologists, history enthusiasts or wildlife experts, specially trained by the centre.
