Knowledge without Borders is hosting storytelling sessions for children on Instagram throughout Ramadan
Knowledge without Borders (KwB), a Sharjah-based cultural initiative has launched an exciting virtual storytelling series for children aged 2 – 12 on its Instagram account @kwbshj. To be held throughout the Holy Month, until May 18, these sessions will host a variety of children’s authors live at 5pm, who will be reading amazing stories in the most fun-filled and engaging ways to educate young listeners on a wide array of topics.
Continuing its mission to nurture young minds and instill a love of stories, KwB has designed this virtual series to engage homebound children in an activity that will bring them joy, especially in times of distress caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The series launched on Tuesday, May 5 with author Feda Shteya’s captivating reading of After the Rain. The next session on Thursday, May 7, saw Sheikha Mariam Al Qassimi taking children on an exciting journey with Mariam and the Pen.
Story lovers will dive into another world of literary wonder with Dr. Alyazia Khalifa, who will be reading Blue Lion on Saturday, May 9. The journey will continue with Samiya Ayish, who will lead the next storytelling adventure on Monday, May 11 with Big – Small. The following Wednesday, May 13, author Fadia Daas will take centre stage to entertain children and teens with The power of color in the universe, after which Nairouz
Tanbouli will read I have Something to Give in the next session on Saturday,16 May. Samiya Ayish will be ready with the story Play with Me for Monday, May 18.
Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of KwB, said: “Sharjah’s cultural project, launched under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aims to enrich people of all ages with a variety of knowledge and shape them as active members of communities. Inspired by this vision, we have continued on our mission to bring children and books together by organising this virtual storytelling series, which will allow young readers an opportunity to cherish wonderful stories and meet accomplished authors in the comfort and safety of their homes.”
