Fatima Sharafeddine’s A Trip Like No Other is Illustrated by Hatem Fathy Aly and tells the tale of Marwa, who has just got back from Umrah with her family. She narrates the details of her trip in this story and describes Mecca and the rituals she performed with her parents there. The story, which targets 6 to 9-year-olds, introduces the essentials of Umrah to children and its lively visuals help illustrate the holy places and the procedures of the rituals.
The Camel in the Sun
This story, inspired by a Hadith, is about a camel pitilessly starved and overworked by its owner. The camel’s suffering continues till the Prophet (PBUH) sees it standing under the blazing sun while its owner lies in the shade. Saddened by this sight, the Prophet (PBUH) comforts the camel and then rebukes the owner who immediately begins to take care of the animal.
Written by Griffin Ondaatje, illustrated by Linda Wolfsgruber and translated by Fatima Sharafeddine, this book is suitable for children aged 6 to 9 years and teaches them how to be compassionate and sensitive to the suffering of others.
