It is a vigorous plant that can grow up to 1 meter and produces large flowers. It is found in wet areas on banks, in the bottoms of ravines, on some cliffs around infiltrations or resurgence of water.
E. veratrifolia requires little description and is unlikely to be confused with any other orchid species. It can however be variable in terms of both plant and flower size with the later flowering mountain examples being both larger and with a denser inflorescence.
