Adenium obesum is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae, that is native to the Sahel regions, south of the Sahara (from Mauritania and Senegal to Sudan), and tropical and subtropical eastern and southern Africa and Arabia.
These flowering shrubs or small trees have swollen trunks to hold water in them to survive the hot climate. These plants bloom in clusters throughout the Arabian desert, during the entire year. But, they cannot tolerate cold climates hence, bloom only when the sun is shining bright.
