Fathima is a 10 year old poetess hailing from the district of Kerala in India, studying in Class 5 in Our Own English High School Fujairah. She started writing poems back at the age of 8. Her first ever poem was written following the sad demise of a dear friend of her father. Since then the little mind has been rushing for words and has written almost 15 poems varying on topics of world issues and peace including the plight of refugees, the Kerala flood, the recent corona virus etc…
The following poem has been written last month on the sad demise of 7 year old Devananda, a little girl from Kerala.
Deep in the stars
In this world of storms and harms
We have sorrows and joys of many kinds
Yet how painful it is to the heart and mind
To see a little pearl vanish away
In those 7 years
How many thoughts
How many dreams
Tearfully, to vanish away
Deep between the stars
The bright shining light
Says all on her own
If only if only I hadn’t gone
If only if were it not for a glimpse of the world
Down below
Every minute the heart in pain
The whole world mourns
As they stare into the air saying
If only if only she hadn’t gone
If only if only we had a glimpse of her
As she waves in the oceans and into the sky for ever never coming back
All stare into the air saying
If only if only she hadn’t gone
In a minute had she gone
In a second she is no more
