Exploring the Emirates: Al Jubail Mangrove Park

Meander through the winding boardwalk where abundant birds, fi sh and folia call the lush mangroves home. The beautiful Dhs5bn, Qurum Walkway- the new Mangrove Park at Al Jubail Island, Abu Dhabi is now open to visitors, welcoming guests to retreat to the great outdoors and explore the UAE capital’s lush natural heritage.

Located on Al Jubail Island, the verdant mangroves extend over one million square metres, lining a winding wooden boardwalk that runs through.

This is a great place to discover and explore- it’s an absolute paradise of one million square feet to explore with amazing views, fl ora and fauna for everyone to enjoy.

The walk overlooks the natural setting of the mangrove forest located on Jubail Island, which is just 15 kilometres from Abu Dhabi city centre.

Visitors will be able to take part in kayaking, participate in educational lessons, enjoy an outdoor area for children, or just simply relax on terraces where they can admire the stunning natural landscape and much more.

This unique reserve will also have a visitor’s centre, which aims to raise awareness about mangrove trees and their environmental significance. The outdoor recreation areas, including a viewing tower, nature education stations, spacious parks, walking tracks, kayaking stations, cycling routes and ample lagoons and beaches for water sports fans.

The three routes through Jubail Mangrove Park, range in length from 1km to 2kms, bordered with a range of fauna, fl ora and natural elements. Peer over the boardwalk and spot the abundant marine life that live within the crystal waters or you can be led by a knowledgeable local ranger who will tell you all about the wildlife or folia native to Abu Dhabi that can be spotted within the mangroves.

Along the way, six in-built sections allow visitors to get even closer to nature. They include a picturesque floating platform, a viewing tower that will offer extensive views across Jubail Mangrove Park and a mini-beach where guests can dip their toes in the water surrounded by the peaceful ambience.

A multitude of viewing terraces along the way provide ample photo opportunities, while those that prefer to take to the water rather than just marvel at it can hire a kayak to explore the mangroves. Guest facilities include an informative visitor centre with a coffee shop and washrooms as well as a children’s play area.

Currently, Jubail Mangrove Park is free to enter and opens daily from 8am to 6.30pm. Al Jubail Mangrove Park (Jubail Island) is located between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island on the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nayhan Highway.

Currently the Intercity bus journey would take half a day but by car the journey can be done in about two and a half hour (90 mins)
