The 23-storey, 110 metre high structure was the first upright circular building in the Middle East when it opened in 2010. Even earlier, the coin-shaped building had already won “Best Futuristic Design” at the 2008 Building Exchange Conference in Spain. Aldar’s unique headquarters has a diameter of 120.9 metres at the ends to 36.4 metres in the middle.
The building is the first circular building of its kind in the Middle East. It is located in Al Raha, Abu Dhabi. The shape of this building is achieved through the use of structural diagrid, a diagonal grid of steel.
Intended to create a sculptural iconic landmark through a novel architectural form, the geometric shape of the Aldar Headquarters building symbolizes unity, stability and rationality.
The site is part of the Al Raha Beach Development in a central location within the development as a whole, with views to the marina and the canal.
