There are several forts around with Fujairah Fort the most well known. The fort at Al Hayl was established by Sh. Abdulla bin Hamdan al-Sharqi between 1932 and 1938 and was the summer residence of the royal family until around 1958.

Bithna Fort was established sometime after 1745, guarded the strategic route across the Hajar Mountains via Wadi Ham since 18th Century.

Awhala Fort is situated on a terrace above the Wadi Helo. Dated around the nineteenth century was built on top of an Iron Age defensive structure.
