Types of Persian Carpets: Caucasian

The people of the Caucasus have an illustrious weaving history dating back to at least 16th Century, when much of the Caucasus was a Persian province. It is a mountainous area lying between the Black Sea the Caspian Sea and is populated by several different tribes.

The designs are simple, geometric and elegant are generally made from pure wool. Famous families making these carpets include Kazak, Shirvan, Kuba and Karabak.
