For the bird watchers amongst us, the area around Masafi has a number of sites worth visiting, particularly on the road to Dibba, through a range of foothills and on to Tayibah plain. Khor Kalba, south of Fujairah town, is interesting with its mangroves are home to the white-collared kingfisher, very rare and localised in Arabia. There are many other birds to spot.
