Located 30 km west of Fujairah, a charming village that inhabits the highest mountains of the UAE. The Area of Masafi derived its name from the castle, which dates back to 1450 A.D.
In the castle’s courtyard are several rooms built at different periods, and there are water slides discovered by the Japanese archaeological team just below the castle, which is a few kilometers long and dates back to the end of the first millennium BC.
The castle is a historical record, known by merchants, leaders and rulers for thousands of years, so it carried the details of the life of the Masafi region, since its inception, where people lived and resorted to wars. The citadel remained the main landmark of the historical area and a historical center for its inhabitants until modern times.
