Situated at the foot of Al Sayed Mountain, the magnificent Roman-inspired Khorfakkan Amphiteatre was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah on December 14, 2020.
The design aesthetics of the stunning open-air venue seamlessly connects it with the natural landscape around it. Strategically located on an elevated hillock, this cultural and architectural landmark offers sweeping views of the khorfakkan Corniche, enabling visitors to bask in the beauty of the sea and soak in the views of the spectacular landscape.
An iconic architectural marvel, the khorfakkan Amphitheatre supports and promotes Sharjah’s cultural and artistic landscape and enriches the emirate’s cultural journey.
The semicircular structure, spanning 80,000 square feet, has an imposing stone façade that includes 234 arches and 295 columns and imbues the new landmark with elements of historical and contemporary architecture.
The amphitheatre, accommodates 3,600 spectators and contains a distinctive lobby and accompanying services with a total area of 75,000 square feet. The Stage features 14 decorated columns.
The amphitheatre utilizes state-of-the-art technology in lighting and acoustics and has a unique temperature control system to ensure efficient usage throughout the year. The amphitheatre regularly hosts various cultural and entertainment activities for citizens, residents, and tourists in the East Coast and across the UAE.
