Fujairah ready to host World Chess Solving Championships
His Highness Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, head of the Department of Industry and Economy in Fujairah, has described Fujairah Chess and Culture Club’s hosting of the 45th World Chess Solving Championships and 64th World Congress of Chess Composition as a qualitative leap for sports in the UAE in general, and in particular Fujairah.
According to Sheikh Saleh, these accomplishments were made possible by the generous support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Fujairah. The Government of Fujairah has taken a wise approach to achieve long-term goals. As a result, Fujairah has become a global sports hub.
“This demonstrates that Fujairah has developed into a major international sports hub, particularly in the sport of chess, where achievements have varied noticeably,” said Sheikh Saleh.
Sheikh Saleh made these remarks during his meeting with the chairman and members of the board of directors of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.
This occurred during the reception of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the tournament, headed by Dr. Abdullah Al Barakat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club, Maryam Abdullah Al Matrooshi, Ibrahim Jalal Al Balushi, Jassim Haikal Al Balushi, and Mohammed Abdul the Rich.
Sheikh Saleh praised the ongoing preparations to receive the international sports event. The championships are to be hosted from 12th to 19th November. Sheikh Saleh congratulated the Fujairah chess family and players and urged them to strive for even more achievements and success in other tournaments.
Dr. Abdullah Al Barakat spoke about the importance of the global event highlighting the championship program and the ongoing construction of a new building that complies with the highest of international standards.
Alongside the World Chess Solving Championships, the 64th World Congress of Chess Composition will take place, with delegates from across the world attending, the club will also host the Fujairah International Blitz Chess Championship, which will mark the end of eight days of activities.
