Fujairah International Monodrama Festival kicks off on the 17th February…
The Higher Organizing Committee of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival has completed its final preparations for the launch of the most important cultural event that will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, during the period from 17th to 24th February 2023 in Fujairah.
Mohammed Saeed Al-Dhanhani, Chairman of the Festival’s Organizing Committee and Director of the Amiri Diwan in Fujairah, said that the festival returns this year to bring together 500 guests of artists and playwrights from different countries of the world. It will also bring members of the International Theatre Authority and representatives of the most important theatres and international performing arts institutions and decision-makers in the field of theatre.
Al-Dhanhani stressed that the festival will constitute an important cultural event in the region. He also referred to the directives of HH Sheikh Hamad Al Sharqi, to pay attention to the theatre sector, and the support of HH Sheikh Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince.
He added that the theatre summit and the activities of the World Congress of the International Theatre Association (ITI), which is held under the slogan “We gather for humanity and the performing arts,” are supported by the United Nations through UNESCO, which chose Fujairah as the first Arab city to host this event in conjunction with the festival.
The Congress will have a remarkable global presence and participation of the most prominent speakers, experts, thinkers and decision-makers in the field of theater. The event will also host, within its accompanying activities, the most essential performances and theatrical performances that simulate the human experiences of the peoples of the world and reflect the cultures of countries through the themes of the performances and their various ideas.
On the sidelines of theatrical performances at the Dibba Association for Culture, Arts & Theatre and the Monodrama House in Dibba, Fujairah, the festival organizes 11 applied seminars and critical sessions that discuss the topics of the performances and raise their existential and intellectual questions, in addition to interactive theatrical workshops targeting creative talents and developing them in the field of theater and performing arts.
On February 17th, the Theatre of the Ministry of Culture & Youth Centre in Fujairah will host the opening ceremony of the festival. The performance tells the story of Fujairah, its development, and the historical sources of historians and travellers. Titled “Fujairah in the Eyes of Travellers”, and presented by the Enana Dance Theatre Group in a dramatic show especially written for the festival.
It is expected that the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival will attract a large audience of different nationalities and influencers interested in theatre in the field of performing arts.
