Fujairah Crown Prince attends launch of Fujairah International Mining Forum

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, has emphasized the importance of focusing on the mining sector, identifying future opportunities within the industry, and staying updated on global developments. The Crown Prince made these remarks during the opening of 8th Fujairah International Mining Forum and the accompanying exhibition, with the theme ‘Mining Investment: Sustainable Development,’ held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.

This commitment is demonstrated through the launch of international platforms and events that foster constructive dialogue among industry leaders and decision-makers. The primary goal is to collectively address challenges and create innovative, sustainable solutions for the sector’s progress.

The opening event was organized by the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) at the DoubleTree by Hilton Fujairah City.

Distinguished attendees included various dignitaries such as Sheikh Saif bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, and Ahmed bin Mohammed Faqih.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Sharqi highlighted Fujairah’s significant role in the global mining industry and its status as an attractive investment destination. He emphasized the forum’s role in supporting the mining sector, contributing to the ‘Year of Sustainability’ initiative, and advancing the UAE’s climate action efforts and resource sustainability.

He encouraged all stakeholders to make the most of the opportunities presented by the forum and to learn from successful practices that align with the UAE’s vision of preserving and sustaining mineral resources.

Saif Ghubash, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Petroleum, Gas, and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), reiterated the UAE’s commitment to supporting and encouraging investment in the mining sector and updating relevant legislation and laws. He highlighted the Mineral Resources Strategy, aimed at enhancing the mining sector’s contribution to GDP and promoting sustainable practices.

Mohamed Saif Al-Afkham, Director General of Fujairah Municipality and Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation’s Board of Directors, also announced the launch of an award recognizing sustainable mining practices in Fujairah at the Fujairah International Mining Forum. This initiative aims to promote environmental innovation and sustainable development.

Adel Saqr, Director General of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation, and Mining Organisation (AIDSMO), commended the forum’s role in promoting climate strategies globally and developing the Arab mining sector through digital projects.

The two-day Fujairah International Mining Forum focuses on discussing the future of mining, investment opportunities, global digital transformation trends in mining projects, and sharing best practices from Arab and international entities in the field.
