Fujairah International Marine Club (FIMC) continues to celebrate its silver jubilee as it announced the UIM XCAT World Championship Fujairah Grand Prix 2024 to be held from the 1st to the 3rd of March 2024. The press conference was hosted by Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Executive Director of Dubai International Marine Sports Club, and Major Ahmed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Fujairah International Marine Club, along with members of the press at Al Bahar Hotel & Resort.
Ten boats are scheduled to take the start of this first round on a challenging race course, essentially located on the rough sea, in the Gulf of Oman.
The GB team of Scott Williams and Martin Campbell, one of the few teams outside of the UAE to have ever won the XCAT Championship, will defend its title against nine other boats and some of the best offshore drivers in the world.
The Victory Team from Dubai returns to this year’s race. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of powerboating and are represented in Fujairah by Salem Al Adidi and Eisa Al Ali, the popular Emirati drivers who won the Championship back in 2017.
Freshly crowned 2023 Class 1 World Champions, the Australian/Italian pairing of Darren Nicholson and Giovanni Carpitella will double again Offshore duties in XCAT, while Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi of Fazza team are as always strong contenders for the World title.
During the press conference, Major Ahmed expressed his happiness at the 25 years of existence of the club and FIMC’s commitment to continuing its many marine activities while revitalizing tourism and social aspects, as well as attracting new generations to practice these many different water sports.
Major Ahmed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Fujairah Marine Club, said that the marine club has so many big events planned throughout the season and he welcomed the community to come, enjoy, and support the exciting water sports events.
