Fujairah Restaurant Review: Thailand Town
Umbrella beach has another gem of a restaurant with Thailand Town. The restaurant boasts a beautiful ocean view just meters from the beach, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without enduring summer heat. The décor is simple and elegant, with neutral brown tones creating a neat and natural atmosphere. The plating is uniform and attractive, featuring royal blue ramekins with elephant-topped lids. The attentive staff even dish your soup from the heated pot tableside.
Thailand Town offers a large selection of dishes, with Japanese options available after 2pm. They have Thai salads, soups, appetizers for both Thai and Japanese cuisine, Asian noodles, pastas, and desserts. The main courses tend towards the pricier side, offering items beyond just Thai food, like lobster Thermidor, Australian lamb shank with spaghetti and gravy, seabass in various styles, grilled mixed seafood and seafood buckets, and crispy duck. Classic Thai favorites like stir-fried beef with black pepper, sweet and sour dishes, chicken with cashew nuts, green curry, red curry, and grilled chicken with sticky rice are also available. When taking your order, the staff inquires about your preferred spice level, eliminating the surprise of a spicier-than-anticipated meal. We started with Tom Kha soup, one chicken and one seafood. The portion size was surprisingly large, making it a meal on its own. The flavorful soup exceeded my expectations. The seafood version, priced 19AED higher than the chicken soup, included a king prawn, mussel, and two pieces of crab alongside the mixed seafood in the broth. It’s definitely good value for the price.
Our appetizers, chicken dim sum and chicken satay, were both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chicken green curry with jasmine rice was exactly as expected – flavorful without excessive spice and very filling. Overall, we were impressed by the quality of the food and the attentive service. If you enjoy Thai or Japanese cuisine, we highly recommend giving Thailand Town a try!
