Elle, the national sport of Sri Lanka, has found its way to the United Arab Emirates, where it continues to gain popularity among the Sri Lankan community. The Dubai Eagles Club, under the expert guidance of Mr. Nishantha Vishvanath, organized an exhilarating Elle tournament, held at the Madhab Ground in Fujairah from June 30th to July 1st, 2024. The tournament saw spirited competition amongst the seven teams from across the UAE: St. Anna, Dubai Eagles, Abu Dhabi Shakti, Dubai Rangammulla United, St. Mary’s and Umm Al Quwain Singha. The games were fiercely contested showcasing the skill and sportsmanship of the participants.
The final match was a nail-biting encounter between the Dubai Eagles and Dubai Rangammulla United. In a game filled with thrilling moments, the Dubai Eagles emerged victorious, clinching the championship title under the guidance of the captain Shadila Hasaral. Dubai Rangammulla United put up a strong fight, earning the well-deserved runner-up position. The player of the tournament was awarded to Saravana. The success of the event was made possible by the unwavering support and dedication of numerous individuals. Heartfelt appreciation goes to Mr. Aflal Sadique, Mr. Nishantha Vishvanath, Mr. Eranga Kumara, Mr. NilankaFernando, Mr. Mahesh Priyantha, Mr. Lelana Maduranga, Mr. Tharindu Dilan, Mr. Luke Diaz, Mr. Hazardeen, Mr. Shadila Hasaral, Mr. Harsha Madusanka, and Mr. Dilruk Achalanka. Their efforts ensured the smooth execution and enjoyment of the tournament.
