The Public Works and Agriculture Department of Fujairah has commenced the eighth phase of the internal road network development across various cities and regions in the Emirate of Fujairah. This initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and is being overseen by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
Salem Mohammed Ali Al-Makshah, Director of the Public Works and Agriculture Department, announced that the department has started implementing the eighth phase of the internal roads project, covering a total of 20 kilometers. This phase, coordinated with the Fujairah and Dibba municipalities, will extend the road network across multiple regions of the emirate, including Nahi in Al-Bidya, Sharm, Murshid, the first and third industrial areas, Wadi Sahm, Al-Seiji, Wadi Ghob, and several other key areas.
As part of this phase, roads will be developed in the Nahi-Al Bidya area (the second and third sections) and Sharm. Sheikh Saif bin Hamad Street will also be expanded to three lanes in both directions, with a new intersection and traffic light, while the airport entrance road will be upgraded to two lanes each way.
Additionally, roadworks have been completed in Marashid, the Al Hail Industrial Area (first and third sections), and Wadi Sahm. The Al-Siji road is being rehabilitated, and homes near the valley in the Ghoul area are being protected with a new 250-meter road, ensuring the safety and ease of access for residents.
Al-Makshah highlighted that the road development, done in partnership with the Fujairah and Dibba Al Fujairah municipalities, includes installing road lighting, traffic signs, speed bumps, and side parking areas, all designed to enhance traffic flow and ensure safety for motorists.
The overarching goal of the internal road network project is to improve the emirate’s infrastructure, providing high-standard transportation services and road safety in line with international benchmarks. This project aligns with Fujairah’s broader vision of supporting growth across its economic, service, and tourism sectors, as well as the UAE’s national development objectives.
