Marriott Business Council UAE Hosts 2024 “Road to Awareness” Cycling Challenge in Support of Al Jalila Foundation

The Marriott Business Council UAE is proud to support the “Road to Awareness” campaign, a fundraising initiative under The Ritz-Carlton’s Community Footprints program. Scheduled for October 25-27, 2024, this annual multi-day cycling event will unite associates from Marriott properties across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to raise funds for the Al Jalila Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving children’s health and supporting their education in the UAE.

The “Road to Awareness” campaign, which began in 2008, has successfully raised nearly USD 13 million, benefiting children’s charities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

This year’s event, led by Christian Hoehn, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, and organized by the Marriott Business Council UAE, will see participants cycling up to 500 km through some of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah’s most iconic landmarks.

Event Itinerary:

• Thursday, October 24th: Riders will arrive at W Abu Dhabi Yas Island for a meet-and-greet, route briefing, and dinner reception.
• Friday, October 25th – Day 1: Cyclists will commence their journey at the F1 Track on Yas Island, passing through Abu Dhabi Mangroves, the Corniche, Al Hudayriat Island, and The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, finishing at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. The day’s ride will culminate at The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert.
• Saturday, October 26th – Day 2: Riders will cycle through Fujairah, with scenic stops including the Khorfakkan waterfalls and the Al Aqah mountainous region before concluding at The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert.
• Sunday, October 27th – Day 3: The final leg will take riders from Al Wadi Desert to the summit of Jebel Jais, then return to The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert for a celebratory gala dinner.
