Crown Prince attends opening of Fujairah International Mining Forum
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, emphasized the essential role of the mining and mineral wealth sector in the emirate, underlining its importance in promoting sustainable economic growth within the UAE and strengthening the country’s leading position in this vital field.
This announcement was made during the opening of the ninth Fujairah International Mining Forum, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah. Organised by the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, this year’s conference follows the theme, “Mining Investment… Sustainable Development,” and welcomed key figures such as Sheikh Engineer Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Director-General of Fujairah e-Government Department, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, and Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy.
The Crown Prince highlighted Fujairah’s strategic focus on the mining industry and its commitment to sustainable projects, aligned with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi. He emphasised the Fujairah government’s dedication to developing the mining sector, advancing mineral resources, and pursuing sustainable investment opportunities on a global scale.
Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation Board of Directors, Saif Ghobash, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Oil, Gas, and Mineral Resources Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and Adel Saqr, representative of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining Organisation, also addressed the gathering.
During the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed recognised the winners of the Fujairah Award for Best Mining Practices and acknowledged the event partners. Discussions at the conference will span various key topics, including mining strategies, investment opportunities, energy-transition minerals, value addition and supply chains, and innovations in AI, data, and automation within the mining sector, alongside efforts to protect geological heritage.
