Fujairah Police Launches Gulf Traffic Week 2025

The Fujairah Police General Command has launched the Gulf Traffic Week 2025 under the theme “Driving Without a Phone.” This three-month campaign is part of the Ministry of Interior’s second quarterly initiative, aligned with its operational plan and the Traffic Sector’s goal of promoting a strong traffic safety culture.
The campaign is designed to raise awareness and reinforce responsible driving behavior among motorists, road users, and the wider community. It aims to educate the public about traffic laws and regulations that help reduce risky behavior on the roads—particularly the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.
A key focus of the initiative is encouraging drivers to adopt safe habits, such as pulling over to make essential phone calls or using hands-free devices like headphones or phone holders, to avoid distractions behind the wheel.
The campaign will feature educational content on social media platforms, along with targeted lectures and programs that highlight the risks of distracted driving, the importance of staying alert, and the consequences of violating traffic laws due to mobile phone use or other distractions.
To enhance road safety, UAE authorities have enforced strict penalties for distracted driving. Motorists caught using mobile phones—whether for texting, calling, or browsing—while behind the wheel face a fine of Dh800 and receive four black points on their driving licence.
In a further move to curb such behaviour, Dubai Police introduced a new regulation in October 2024. Under this law, in addition to the Dh800 fine and black points, drivers found distracted by mobile devices will have their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
Authorities continue to highlight a clear safety message: Put the phone down and stay focused on the road. Using a mobile phone while driving not only puts the driver at risk but also endangers passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.
