To raise awareness on this lesser known fact and to emphasise that men could be at risk, several bikers from different biker groups such as Harley Davidson and Hog Abu Dhabi are journeying across the emirates from 18 till 26 February, ahead of the 10th edition of the Pink Caravan Ride (PCR) to drive home the message that early detection is vital to maximise their chances of a good outcome.
The destinations the bikers have reached so far are: Fujairah Mall, Al Majaz Waterfront and City Walk. They are also yet to reach Manar Mall and Umm Al Quwain Mall.
These socially-minded bikers are passionately promoting the awareness education programme of Pink Caravan – a pan-UAE breast cancer awareness initiative by non-profit Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP) – encouraging the men across UAE’s communities to go for their early detection screenings at fixed clinics, which will be operating from February 16 – March 6, 2020, at the following locations:
1. Sharjah: Al Majaz Waterfront (Sponsor: Shurooq; Medical partners: UHS and Medcare)
2. Dubai: City Walk and Dubai Festival City (DFC) Mall (Sponsors: Meraas and DFC Mall)
3. Fujairah: Fujairah Mall (Sponsor: Fujairah Mall; Medical partners: Al Sharq Hospital & Thumbay Hospital)
4. Ras Al Khaimah: Manar Mall (Sponsor: Manar Mall)
5. UAQ: Mall of Umm al Quwain (Sponsor: Mall of UAQ)
6. Ajman: Al Hamidiya Park (Sponsor: Ajman Municipality)
7. Abu Dhabi: The Galleria (Sponsors: The Galleria and SHEIN; Medical partner: Healthpoint; Main partner: Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre)
For both men and women, breast cancer, if detected and treated early, could be curable.
