Fujairah showcases tourist attractions at ATM 2023
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Tourism & Antiquities Authority, stated that the Emirate of Fujairah intends to establish sustainable and environmentally friendly hotels in accordance with the country’s vision for carbon neutrality by 2050, in collaboration with the agencies affiliated with the authority, as well as investing in infrastructure. It is committed to development projects as well as to preserving the emirate’s archaeological sites. Among these is the ancient Bidiyah Mosque in Bidiyah village. Also included in the park are Wadi Wurayah Reserve’s springs, and the Fujairah Museum’s ancient archaeological collections.
In his remarks, he expressed pride in the authority’s participation in the Arabian Travel Market. It is a win-win situation for each party involved in promoting tourism internally and externally.
In his statement, he said that the Arabian Travel Market is a global forum for participating countries. It is aimed at exchanging knowledge in the tourism industry and related fields.
The Director General of Fujairah Tourism & Antiquities Authority, Saeed Al-Samahi, said that the hotel tourism sector is growing in the emirate because of its strategic location. This attracts domestic tourism from citizens and residents, as well as its proximity to the Sultanate of Oman. Thereby making the emirate an attractive area for Omani tourists. He also pointed out that the emirate includes many hotel establishments, with a variety of leading hotel brands. This is reflected in the promotion of the tourism sector in the emirate. It also contributes to attracting more tourists from different countries to enjoy the unique nature of Fujairah.
Al-Samahi drew attention to the project for the rehabilitation of heritage tourism facilities. This includes forts that characterize the UAE. More than 12 forts have been restored, embodying the vision of the Fujairah Government’s keenness to develop its tourism sector. In recent years, including the Umbrella Beach Complex and the modern road network within the emirate.
Ismail Al Balushi, Director General of Fujairah International Airport, explained that the Emirate of Fujairah represents a promising tourist attraction. He added that the Arabian Travel Market exhibition is one of the most important exhibitions. He went on to say it is an ideal platform for displaying the emirate’s attractions, stressing the complementary role of government agencies in the emirate.
Al Balushi noted that the airport is a major gateway to attract tourists and visitors to this natural tourist destination. He pointed to the most effective smart services at Fujairah International Airport, in addition to the ongoing airport expansion project.
